Freezing rain warning issued for:
  • B.C. North Peace River, B.C. (087320)
Freezing rain warning continued for:
  • B.C. South Peace River, B.C. (087310)

Where: B.C. North and South Peace River.

When: Overnight to Wednesday morning.

Hazards: Freezing rain resulting in slippery surfaces.

Remarks: A Pacific frontal system moving across Northern British Columbia will give freezing rain to the Peace River Region. The freezing rain is expected to start after midnight and persist into Wednesday morning with heavier amounts near the Rockies. Precipitation may be a mix of freezing rain and ice pellets at times depending on surface temperatures.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Freezing rain warning continued for:

  • Willmore Wilderness Park, Alta. (077250)
  • Yellowhead Co. near Hinton and Obed Lake Prov. Park, Alta. (077260)

Freezing rain is expected late tonight and Wednesday.

Freezing rain is expected to develop tonight in the Hinton area as well as parts of Highway 40 north of Grande Cache. Areas from Grande Prairie through Edson and Whitecourt are expected to see freezing rain begin by Wednesday morning.

Conditions will improve Wednesday afternoon.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Utility outages may occur.

Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
