Alert Details
Snowfall with total amounts of about 15 cm is expected.
Where: Coquihalla Summit - Hope to Merritt.
When: Today.
Remarks: Another fall storm is expected to impact southern BC beginning today. The system is forecast to remain offshore over the next few days, with associated bands of precipitation pushing into the region today bringing bands of heavy snow. Near 15 cm of snow can be expected near the summit.
Additionally, gusty easterly winds may create periodic blowing snow which will further reduce visibilities.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. The site https://shiftintowinter.ca/ reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.
Road conditions are available at https://www.drivebc.ca/.
