Forecast Confidence: High
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.
Potential hail size: up to Nickel size hail.
Potential wind gusts: near 80 km/h in thunderstorms.
Potential rainfall rates: locally 10 to 25 mm per hour in thunderstorms.
Time span: until early this evening.
Remarks: A moist air mass combined with daytime heating has lead to lead to the development of thunderstorms, with potential to become severe. The storms are expected to be slow-moving, with a risk of localized heavy rainfall.
Be prepared for severe weather. If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
